Tim Weitzel is Full Professor and Chair of Information Systems and Services at the University of Bamberg, Germany, that was founded in 1647. In 2001, Bamberg University established the first dedicated IS faculty in Germany to open the historical profile, rooted in the humanities, to the IS/CS field. The IS/Informatics Faculty is top ranked in the German speaking countries, with a number one position, among others, concerning the quality of professors. Dr. Weitzel is Program Director of the Bachelor and Master Program International Information Systems Management, the Program Director of Germany’s largest Online IS Master Program VAWi (Virtual Master’s Degree Program of Information Systems), and Director of CHRIS (Centre of Human Resource Information Systems) that is dedicated to analyzing the role and opportunities of IS in HR processes and to gather data to understand students’ IS enrolment decisions and professional IT career paths. He has served as Dean of the IS and Informatics Faculty and Vice President of the Senate of Bamberg University. He is elected EMEA representative in the council of the Association of Information Systems, member of the editorial board of several journals and has served multiple terms as Senior Editor for JAIS. His research on IT management, standardization and eHRM has been published in MIS Quarterly, Journal of MIS, European Journal of IS, Information Systems Journal, Journal of IT, Journal of Strategic IS, MIS Quarterly Executive, and GQ and has been cited 5.000 times.
